iRepair is a GUI alternative to using chown terminal to correct folder permissions. It has the option to "include subfolders" and in the little I have tested it, it seems to work pretty well. The people who are already used to terminal command entry may shun this, but it is part of my quest to add more "user friendly" solutions to common problems.

PCefi V9 Installer
To be used from within another working installation of OSX. If you are already using chameleon this will upgrade you to PCEFI V9. Also includes MKext tool for taking advantage of the "extras" folder - where you can pre-load kext files you need to Boot if a bootloader wont work for you.

defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles TRUE
killall Finder
